Rav 4.2 (2003) Wheel Cover

I was unfortunate enough to have my colour coded wheel cover stolen by some thieving oik.

Im going to get one of those semi rigid covers that tie up at the rear of the wheel and was wondering if the part of the original wheel cover nearest the vehicle body (the black bit the colour coded part attaches to) can be easily removed so it doesnt look out of place?

If I remember correctly the inner part of the cover is just held in place between the door and the spare wheel. There was a big crack in my cover when I bought the car, so rather than buying a new one from the stealership or stealing one myself, I just removed the entire cover and put the wheel back on.

Yup just take the wheel off, slide off the inner black bit and put it on eBay - My inner bit was cracked and I was quoted £130 to replace it. In my case the solution was to Kermit it - rivet rivet rivet - but I bet there is someone else out in eBay land who would cross your palm for the redundant bit.
