Saloon - Ok For Young Family?

Hi Guys

Sorry for all the questions, i've seen a few avensis' nearby (1.8 & 2.0 vvt-i's) but the ones that seem a bargain are the saloons and i am being to like the look of them more than the hatchback. Question is, i've got a young family (1 x 2 year old and another and planning another). Is the saloon ok for holding large pushchairs etc etc? Parkers website says it has a larger capacity than the hatchback.

Has anyone got an experience of owning the saloon with a family?

Thanks

Mark

hiya

mine is an auto 2004 saloon. i !Removed! love it. i wanted a hatch initially, but the saloons were cheaper and i used the fact that i wasnt too keen on a saloon to get a bigger discount from the delaer. they are quite keen to shift them i think.

anyways, i dont have a fmaily, but the wife and i look after my 3 yr old goddaughtter a fair bit and the boot is fabulous for lugging her stuff around. ive no probs with it at all. for normal duties though, it carries planty of stuff, with the weekly shopping as well. cant say more realy. its a good pice of kit.

(about to check yr other post regarding auto/manual)

i personally would never have a saloon again had a vecta saloon many moons ago and had two kids of similar age of yours and we did struggle with the size of the boot with pushchairs and all usual stuff that goes along with kids and holidays.i would say spend that little bit more if you can and get an estate.we have had two avensis estates and you would be amazed how much stuff they can swallow.

We have had our saloon for almost 8 years and got it after the birth of our first child. We now have 3 kids and although the car is no longer our main family vehicle it still can hold it's own.

The boot is a great size and once you know how to fit things through the gap it's brill - as an idea with some jiggery pokery we can get the graco quattro duo ( 2 seater) pushchair in the boot. The car has done various family holiday runs with no problems.

Having said that you will wish you had a hatchback when it comes to moving bulkier things.

I've had several station cars over the last 20 years and I couldn't even imagine life without one anymore.

Before that, I had a BMW 5-series saloon which had a huge trunk, but when our first was born it was a puzzle, every single time to get things in.

The ease of shoving things into a station car is just... great.

I owned a 2000 1.8vvti Auto saloon and had a new baby plus a 7 year old. Boot was always good for space but the access was not the greatest for large items. We went camping and had lots of holidays with the boot crammed. Also with my job i carried lots of expensive items and always felt they were more secure in a saloon rather than a hatch. I went away from Toyato for a few years and stayed with saloons cars but now I have a 2010 T4 saloon and the boot is amazing. Its huge.................................. very impressed with the capacity :toast:
