Rust

Washing the car today and found specks of rust on the rear tailgate and under the nearside rear door handle.

Has anyone else experienced this? They were not there two weeks ago when I washed it last?

its fallout. small metal particles that sit on the paint.

i used a clay kit (meguires do a good one) it not only will remove the rust specks but also any other crud on the car.

if you look closely you'll probably find it on the load lip of the bumper as well

No problem, I detailed the car when I bought it in March but didn't clay as the bodywork was pretty smooth - previous owner done little miles and kept it in a garage.

I'll clay the tailgate and see how it turns out.

I know this is an old thread, but I have exactly the same rust flecks all over the tailgate around the toyota Badge. Did claying fix the issue ??

Ive had the same issue with mine clay sorted it out. The clay gets so much grime off your paint you will be really shocked.
