Central Locking Headace

My wife owns a 1.8 GS Avensis on a S REG. We brought it to Mozambique where we now live. NEVER ever had a problem with it. Now there are two things I do not understand and cant find a person that can. The DEALER here !!!!!!????less. They have never seen or heard of the car.It does not even come up on there computer.

Problem one is not much of a problem but more a pain. The car gets used only on long distance runs (school and back +- 2000 kms round trip).Due to the location, the speed is always at 80 to 100+mph. The Problem is that below 4200rpm the car has no guts, but the moment it hits 4200 it feels like it has a jet under the bonnet. The speed then rockets up and when you ease up on the throttel you are back to no guts. Never noticed this in England due to the speedlimits, but it was apparent here, immediately.

Second problem is the fact that after a very hot day here, 46+DegC, the doors would not unlock with the key remote. Unlocked the door with the key and the flashers went on but no siren only a clicking under the dash. The central locking on the key worked and the immobiliser was on. Car starts, but with the hazards on and the clicking under the dash go's on, 20sec's later it go's off. During all this the central locking on the door handle worked ONCE only and now also dead. Did all the new batteries in the keys and all the reset prosedures as well as all the door and boot switch checks fuses and plugs sprayed cleaned, and all for nothing. The dash light blinks all the time, till you unlock the door, then it burns till the flashers go off,but the car starts and drives ,no problem. I have been told there is a backup Battery in the central locking module but I cant find it,the Battery that is. I am a mechanic but this is driving me up the wall.

Hope someone can help me.

Doing the SCHOOL RUN at 80-100+ mph? Are you sure you shouldn't actually address your questions to The Samaritans?
