Just Bought Mmy First Ever Toyota

hi all just letting you all know i have just purchased my first ever toyota the history of this vehicle is as follows toyota lucida estima built 1992 imported to uk then exported to spain then imported back to the uk it is still on spanish plates and i am in the process of getting it re-registered in the uk ,,, some daft qoutes from insurance companies include 1 at £96,0000 1 at £9750 the average being between £700 to £1000 and if accept the quote to insure it they say it cannot be used on the uk roads not even to take to the dvla or to get a uk mot ,,, what sense is there in that ,,, any way i did manage to get insurance at a sensible price and the clause is only to travel to mot station and the dvla local office ,, so all being well by friday it should have a uk plate provided i can locate the engine number the spaniards do not have this info logged on the registration document so i have searched and searched and even the local dealer cannot tell me where the engine number is located so until i find it i won't be able register it ,,,, can anyone help ! ,,, thanks for reading best regards to all Tony

welcome to the forum..... engine number - I'd guess its on the engine perhaps.... did you look at the engine via the inspection plate under the passenger seat?

Ithanks for the reply and in all fairness I have removed evry panal I could to locate the number looking at the top near the flyheel near the front and I have even been underneath the it to have a look for the engine number ,,, so where have they hidden it ,,, it has to be on the motor some where?
