Perimetric Alarm - Advice Please

When I bought my car, the first time I saw it on the garage forecourt, I apparently set the alarm off just by looking through the window at the interior. The salesman came out with the keys to turn it off, and said that it had a perimetric alarm.

However, since buying the car, I have washed it whilst it has been locked, peered in the window, and stood outside it for a while to test the alarm, and it has never gone off. Can it be switched on and off? I always use the 2 press lock, and the alarm light comes on.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I have a 1999 Avensis, if I press the lock button twice on the remote it will lock the doors but it also switches the interior sensor 'off' on the alarm system.

It will still trigger if you open a door. This is used when you leave people or animals in the car !

So press the lock button once and see if you can trigger the alarm.

i had similar problem, and even interior sensors disconected but it didt help, so ended up disconecting the whole sired. Mr T charges £85 only for diagnostic can imagine what the total would be. Good luck sorting it out.
