my 1977 corolla wagon

Hi all. I recently met a guy in the parking lot at the mall in Louisville, Kentucky who spotted my car. He was not the first to stop me and ask about my ride. I've had alot of people check out this car and some where even familiar with the car. Quite a few folks knew about this particular car (not ones like it, but the actual car that I own). I had no idea that I owned such a relic (as some have said). This guy I ran into told me I must join this board and tell you all about my car. I hate bragging and I'm not really an auto buff, but it is kinda cool I guess. I love this little car. It's a neat story actually.

In october I bought a 1977 Toyota Corolla Wagon. I know that doesn't sound too exciting but, it is really something. It was originally owned by a retired airforce pilot from wwll. He bought it new in '77. He had a massive stroke about 15 years after he bought it new. He had perchased it as a secondary vehicle for him and his wife to go to church, the store, and just around the neighborhood in. After his stroke, the car was stored in a garage while being maintained. It was never neglected.

I saw the car at an IGA grocery store in Crestwood, Ky with a sign on it that said $800.00. It was a little dirty but was in mint condition. I bought it right then. It had 55,000 original miles on it and even had the original tires on it from 1977. There is no rust on it, and every part is original. The paint is perfect and there are no dents. It was really cool find... for an amazing price.

Since then, many people have told me that they saw that same car and wanted to buy it but had trouble getting ahold of the people that were selling it. I have owned it for 4 months now and there is nothing wrong with it. It drives like a dream and doesn't leak a drop of anything. I have put 4,000 miles on it in 4 months and she is holding up great.

I put a pretty kickin' stereo system in it and I keep it shiny and clean. The chrome is what catches most people's eyes. I have been looking for some kind of a car club. where I could share this neat little car with others. I also like checking out other people's cars. I'm really into vintage cars in general but mostly old volkswagens.

Thanks for taking the time to read about my car. I hope it didnt bore you. If anyone else is interested in checking out this car or anyone that likes to talk about old VW's, feel free to contact me.

Take care. -Don Oswald (Louisville, Ky.)
