Keyless Entry - 2 Remotes

I'm not sure whether I'm missing something in the manual ... or wishing for the impossible ... but it seems a straightforward problem.

I'm on hols in France, and as usual when we come away I make sure that I bring the second remote fob in case the first is lost / stolen. However, it seems impossible to secrete the second keyless remote inside the car as it then refuses to lock when I get out. I don't want to carry 2 remotes everywhere (& run the risk of losing them both) - is there any way of disabling / enclosing the 2nd remote in a box, so that it can be hidden in the car which might solve my problem?

Thanks to one & all for an informative forum

I cant see any good reason why you would want to keep a key for the car INSIDE the car when you leave it, that is asking for trouble. Why not have one fob yourself and another kept by your wife/partner/friend?

I've got two safes bolted into the car (for camera / passports / licence etc.) & I would like to keep a spare keyless fob in one of these so that the whole family can relax on the beach without being concerned about security - I've always before been able to keep my spare (Saab) remote in one of the safes, but can't work out whether the Verso will play ball http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif
