Toyota Auris Diesel 2.0 07 Plate

Hi everyone,

I bought a new Toyota Auris 07 and what an experience it is to drive (Very Comfy). Recently (4 months) I've had starting issues with the car. I have taken back to the Toyota garage in Bracknell and they were not able to reproduce the issue. Funny enough when i started the car up I took a video recording to show what the car does (Chokes engine light comes on).

I gave the car to the garage and they were like I will have to bring the car back again if the problem occurs. They did clean the fuel system and air filters (worked fine for 7 days).

Could someone please advise what I should do. They said they take the car in and provide me with a replacement car but I feel I am been taken for a ride...

Whats the issue you have ?

The glow plug/cold start light illuminating ? (Normal on a cold engine)

I have had bad starting problem for a while on my 2.2, the symptom is that it would try and turn but does not start smoothly and sometimes taking 3-4 seconds of cranking before starting. But it has never failed to start.

Toyota had my car for 2.5 weeks whilst i was out of the country and they could not figure it out. During the whole process of diagnosting, they replaced my Battery and my EGR valve, still the problem persists. This all happened when my warranty was coming to an end and worried me a little...

There are several suggestions on what the problem could be:

1. Battery current low (cannot sufficiently crank during start)

2. EGR valve blocked

3. Injectors fault

Point number 3 is the only one that they didnt try to fix (probably due to cost), since I had my car back from them (since March) I have used Redex to try and treat my injectors on every tank fill up. Well it hasn't cured it but it has actually helped, I am pretty convinced that it is to do with the injectors and now i can only hope that they will not get worst.

Suggest to them it could be the injectors.
