Just came across this website on Faceybook - http://www.redlinemaxed.co.uk/tail-light-bulb-p-1112.html

They're selling these LED bulbs for side lights, brake lights, tail lights. Has anyone fitted such a thing to their Aygo? Can they be fitted to an Aygo?

I know LEDs are brighter (you only have to have an Audi in your mirror to notice this) and consume less energy, but would they be worth it? Don't think I'll replace my bulbs until I need to, but was just interested to see if anyone else has done it.

I'm strongly against using LEDs in an armature that's designed to be used with incandescents...

Audi's and such have their light systems designed to use LEDs, so they work properly.

Cars with bulbs cannot be illuminated properly with LED-replacements.

If you get in an accident and the other party claims to not have seen your brakelights

they might even win because you don not comply to the regulations!

Thanks Jan, I think I'll avoid them then. Aygo's lights are bright enough as they are anyway :P

I have them fitted and they are brighter and react quicker than normal bulbs and also run cooler.

I have never had any issues with them... thumbsup.gif

Hmm cool, do you have a picture of them fitted to your car at all? I'm just intrigued to see how different they are :P haha thanks for the advice anyway! :)

They can't notice them until you hit the pedal then you notice the difference thumbsup.gif

I agree with Jan, but technology is changing so fast. I remember 17 years ago when I had flashing LEDs for my mountain bike. The police werent happy us mountain bikers using them as the LEDs only shine "one way". If you look at an LED front on its powerfull, but you CANNOT see the brightness from the side.

I had a earlier set of LED lights for my Peugeot, but if you look at the link Aygogummy has posted. Its actually 360 degress so it SHOULD be brighter. Not sure if if with pass the UKs MOT test, as its not incandescent. Like I say our regulations have to catch up with technology.

My car passed it's MOT with flying colours last week with LED lights thumbsup.gif

Good for you!

Think it may depend on the individual who does the test. I had a sun strip on my Peugeot, and it passed. The following year I tood it to another "Arnold Clark" garage and they failed it, the year after that, I went back to the original one that had passed, and they they passed the MOT after I put the sun strip back on my windscreen.

Technically it was "illegal" as the sun strip was actually in the wiper part of the screen by about an inch.

I'm taking the Aygo for a check-up on Friday, so I'll ask them to check out the rusting wheel bolts. I'll let everyone know if anything results! :)
