Transit Time From Factory In Czech Republic

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how long it takes an Aygo that has just been built from the factory to get to the UK?

:yahoo: as long as a piece of string i should think!

Bear in mind that by the time it comes off the end of the line, is parked in their own compound until enough are produced to make a train-load - then a route for the train has to be planned (although it may be a regular one)

Then from the train to a ferry (unless it comes through the hole in the ground between France and the UK) then ferry to Toyota compound in the UK,

then from there on a lorry to your local dealer's compound.....

Anything from two weeks to 3 or 4 months I should think

Both yours (from your messages) and mine were both produced in February this year and delivered to us in June so unless someone has a better explanation mine above could be about right...

It will depend on model, specification, colour, additional spec made at purchase etc etc etc, there is no hard and fast rule. 3 Months would be quick, but some colour choices/specs are not as popular and it may sit in a compound for 6 months or more. In the bad old days, it was not uncommon for cars to sit in compounds for years, fortunatley with "Just in time" production techniques, cars are mainly built to order (with a built in lead time) Toyota are THE world leader in this method of production and are copied by just about every other manufacturing companies worldwide, it is known as "The Toyota way" Google it to find out more or buy a book on it, they are available to buy- No offence

The train route and schedule is a fixed one: AFAIK all cars go to

Zeebrugge in Belgium and are redistributed by truck and train from there.

Zeebruge is also the place where some of the country-specific trim is mounted.

Much less than that. As alluded to in another thread I have in the past ordered Audis. They only produce cars to order so if you want a new one you have to wait. The longest wait is for the car to be programmed into the production line - about 10 weeks. It takes about 24 hours to go from flat steel to completed car. As soon as it is finished it is dispatched. My first one took two weeks, the second just a week from the factory in Germany.

Continuous production cars will be dispatched and stored in the Country in which they are to be sold - that's why you get fields of new cars around the Country.
