The one and only mod I want to make is to change the huge aerial for a much smaller one. Anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks

You can buy a smaller sports aerial from Peugeot & Citroen, that's what I got for mine.

first thing I did was ditch the aerial (it was almost the length of the car!!) and put a short black one on - got it from Halfords for a few ponuds - it says 'decoration only' but thats just to cover them as you may not get as good a reception but mine works fine unless going under short tunnels when it comes and goes but then again it is a tunnel so..........

you can get black, blue, silver etc in Halfords or similar auto stores.

cheers

I have got one of these on mine, and I like it, and might be a bit too small Click Here

I bought the 18cm version of the Richbrook Sabre, in satin. The black one in Halfords is the 13cm long version. Some vandal had broken the threaded brass boss of my Fiesta roof-mount, so a new mount at £10.70p + VaT, was needed, so I had to scrap the similar Samourai 18cm aerial, also 18 cm long. A google search found me the Richbrook aerials at "Redline Maxed", Sleaford, also known as CMD Sales Ltd. Price was £15.49, + £1 for 1st class Royal Mail First Class Recorded. (I also bought the Aluminium Gearbox Layout Keyring, at £4.49p)

These metal aerials have a small grub-screw, as an anti-theft feature, but I have to shorten the aerial by 5mm as the new thread is a bit shorter than the old one, and I will use copper-grease on the threads to stop corrosion.

Reception is no problem. The adaptors provided are not needed for the Fiesta, as the steel-cored thread is fixed, and the aerial fits the existing thread

There are other aerials to choose from on that site, and other sites.

I too got the PUG/Cit Sports Aerial (thanks to everyone recommending it on here) and it looks great. No loss of performance [in the radio] and it should really come as standard from factory. Well worth it :)

I just fitted a DAB radio recently and needed to fit a second aerial.

It's possible to fit almost any aftermarket FM or DAB Aerial in the Aygo rear bumper very easily.

As only the rear window opens on the Aygo and the rear plastic bumper moulding is very tall and also very flat it makes it a doddle.

If you look under the bumper theres also a platic ledge extending in from the back of the bumper. just drill a 10mm hole in the plastic to mount an aerial. This will be completely invisible from outside.

The best place seems to be pasenger side (rhd car) mounted vertical approximately inline with the inside edge of the rear light cluster.

A full length horizontal mounted FM Aerial may also work but might need to remove bumper to fit that.

Rooting the aerial, cable. Dont try routing the cable underneath the car.

You cant enter the car where the handbrake or gear linkage fits, or easily from front bulkhead, Using a plug in a footwell would be naff. Behind the rear lamp cluster theres a large rubber gator for some wires to go to (i think) the rear numberplate display. Remove the insulation tape sealing the wires to the gator. Add your aerial wire and re-tape it up.

Reception will not be as good as with a huge roof mounted aerial. With this set up Im getting good reception on 3 of the 4 DAB Main (ensemblem) services and bubbling on the 4th. This is with a half length dab antenna.

Dont think there would be much problem on FM which is less fussy about reception.

If I get round to it I'll put an FM Aerial in the bumper and shorten the roof antenna to the correct length for DAB swapping the aerials around as DAB aerial would benefit most from roof mount.
