Roof Bars Sr180

Looks like I am going to have to commit the cardinal sin of fitting roof bars to my car to facilitate carrying bikes. Trouble is, I don't see anywhere that they would fit! I have a rubber strip running down either side of the roof edges, but no gaps or slots into which I can fit bars. Does the rubber have to be removed entirely, or cut to shape?

I would only have the bars on when I want to carry bikes, so i don't want to start carving up bits of the car to accommodate bars that won't be there that often.

Unless anyone can confirm a high mount rear cycle carrier that I could strap to the back? The spoiler looks to me like it would get in the way, and I really do not want to have a plate & lights board if the rear light clusters are obscured. Thule do a high mount one, but I'm not sure if the straps will put pressure on the back edge of the spoiler.

Other than that, it's a towbar, but now we are talking silly money when you consider all the electrics as well!
