D4-D T180 - Power Loss Under 2K

Car has just done 40K miles and no problems whatsoever.

Just noticed over past 2 weeks that there is a slight hesitation and no power under 2K, as soon as you get over 2K revs engine seems to come alive.

I`m wondering if this is the first stage of a blocked EGR valve ? Perhaps these are the first symptoms - does anyone agree ?

hi ya. sounds like egr valve to me. i'm a toyota tech with over 10 years under my belt. if you've got a 12 mm socket to hand its easy to check. pull off the engine cover then undo the 4 12mm bolts holding the egr to the top of inlet manifold then remove the 2 12mm bolts for the pipe onto the head unplug thevalve and pull the valve up hold the valve up to the light if you can see light through the valve's inner workings then the valve is faulty..
