Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a Toyota Avensis 1.8 sitting in the carport, and need help get it working. Not totally sure of the year, as it's not mine, but it's probably around 99. has black colored unclear headlamps, might help you. k, so all the owner knows is it is a electric problem and he had some components changed and it worked for a short while if I remember correctly. I'll try to get more info on everything, but in the meantime could guys tell me a bit about what I can do to find faults and stuff? Maybe explain a bit about the electrics and the usual faults, anything is helpful.

Last up, how to you pop the hood?

Thanks in advance.

Surely to pop the hood you pull the lever under the dash, most modern cars are the same huh.gif

As for your electrical troubles.... I doubt anyone can help as you actually do not describe any symptoms at all blink.gif

ah k, thanks, I looked under the are where the steering wheel is, didn't find the lever, thought it maybe was different with toyota, I'll look again.

I'll have to recharge the Battery, is flat. Doesn't make a single sound or show any light on the clocks when I turn the key. But I'll find out what he changed on the motor and get everything he knows basically.

Thanks for replies.

  • 2 weeks later...

A bit time since I last posted. But anyway with my own car Battery dead, I loaned a Battery to test if my generator was working. All good there, but then I thought I should try it on the Toyota. Hooked it up, all lights light up on the dash, I turn the key to only hear a little click. The starter didn't move a inch.

Any ideas?

Any ideas? I think he is getting his generator tested, would you think it could cause the problem?
