BUT THEY HAVE SAID THAT IF ITS THE CLUTCH OR GEAR IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY- THE CAR IS 2 AND A HALF YEARS OLD??

Hiya; warranty for your vehicle should be three years. Check your documentation. I had to get the clutch replaced around the same time and it WAS replaced on warranty as I put my foot down and said I was not paying for a new clutch when it was still under warranty. Mention big words and also Trading Standards.

Hope that helps; let me know what happens.

Sounds like one or more of the clutch cover retaining tabs had snapped.

This would of certainly be covered by warranty if its within the 3 years - they shouldnt have needed to debate it really.

Unless you have a very high mileage which would be interpreted as fair wear & tear, your dealer should process this as a warranty claim. If they are unsure they should submit a Proir Authority request" to TGB making it clear there is a component failure causing the problem.

Is this another thing to look out for with the Aygo? :/

No overly common but can happen.

it should be a rare problem, as it could be down to a small dodgy batch, so there might be some citreons and peugeots driving around with the same problem too

Hey!

I've had the same problem and noticed it this morning. I went to the garage this afternoon and its getting worse and getting difficult to change gear! The car has done 35thou miles and it shouldn't be happening this soon so we're contacting the toyota garage that sold us the car (4yrs ago so not under warrenty anymore) to see what they say

Will let you know
