New Aston Martin Db9

Aston Martin has revealed a revised DB9 in what it describes as the most significant upgrade to the range since it launched in 2003. And the facelifted DB9 goes on sale with immediate effect.

The Aston Martin DB9 sits above the V8 Vantage and is mechanically related to the Rapide four-door coupe, from where features like the newly standard adjustable dampers are taken.

The DB9's 470hp 6.0-litre V12 engine remains unchanged, which is no bad thing given the intoxicating noise it makes and the fantastic performance it delivers. As before, 0-62mph comes up in 4.8 seconds and it'll hit 190mph flat out.

In pure numbers terms it's pretty much comparable with the Bentley Continental GT, which costs £124,804 and, though more powerful and a tad faster at the top end, offers an identical 0-62mph time.

The DB9 is a much sleeker, racier looking car than the Bentley though and in a different league in the beauty stakes. So it's good to hear Aston Martin hasn't tampered with the looks too much.

There's a new bumper with changed intakes, silver mesh in the lower intake and a new chrome grille. No, we hadn't spotted the changes either. At the back DBS-style clear lights have been added.

New diamond turned 20-inch wheels are also standard and the brake calipers will now be silver painted as standard. The 'hockey stick' styling line in the sill has also been emphasised but overall the revisions are subtle.

Under the skin the biggest change is the standard fitment of Aston Martin's adaptable ADS damping system, as introduced on the DB9's hardcore DBS brother and since carried over onto the Rapide.

According to speed, steering input and load the dampers automatically adjust between five levels, a button on the dash meaning you can choose 'comfort' or 'sport' overall settings.

Other detail upgrades include an improved bluetooth connection set-up and a new Bang & Olufsen stereo option. The revised DB9 is in production now and will cost £122,415 for the coupe and £131,445 for the open top Volante version.

It's on my Christmas list... yes.gif

Followed a V12 Vanquish out of the works industrial estate a few nights ago.The noise the car made edging forward in the traffic queue was awesome and just a taster for the noise the car made when the road cleared and it disappeared rapidly into the distance
