I'm triying to upgrade my Aygo standard audio, using my old car Speakers (2 separate ways, same size as aygo door speakers) I tried them on the Aygo, but the standard head unit can't power them.

I don't want to change the Aygo radio, so changing the unit is not an option to me, althought easier.

So I will install an external amp, but I don't like the idea of using the high-level output (that is, the speaker output) from the head unit. I think it is better to use low level (line-out): less power use, less heat (these days here in Spain it is a problem), and better sound quality, wich is the main goal.

So I dissasembled the Aygo radio and found the integrated amplifier chip: Toshiba ta8266hq. You can easily find its data sheet on google. So the low level to the internal amp inputs are identified, and have to test this weekend by sending their signal to an external amp and my lovely old speaker set.

If it works, it seems an easy mod (some wire soldering skills required) to our cars. If someone want to test this, I can post more details, but sorry not to work more on this until sunday.

PD: Sorry for my English, I'm from Spain.

Sounds like a nice mod, fingers crossed it works.

Post some pictures if you can.

I can confirm that this will work, as I tested this a couple of weeks ago on a half destroyed radio I have lying about...

We eventually set out to make these Pre-amp signals available on the C-block,

but that turned out to be quite a hassle, since there's not enough "empty" pins on it :-(

Tapping off the signals before the integrated Amplifier-IC and

routing these signals to my home stereo worked as expected.
