Yes, this "masterpiece" is not a highlight in the car. :nopity:

The important "work" to give light is not fullfilled. It is only a read-spot and not an interior dome light.

I added 3 extra lights (each in the footroomarea and one in the reardoorlid from "broken" car).

I swapped mine for an LED bulb that doubles the light output for less than £ 7.00 thumbsup.gif

A brightly LED light would definently help, however that does not solve the blind spot problem :(

I guess I will need to put a torch in the car at the meantime

Hi there - Can you tell us all where you got the LED bulb from,

and what its part number was?

This would help "illuminate" us all (sorry!)

Thanks

I got mine here:

LED Bulbs - Interior

Thanks for this - now I have another question..... how does one take the existing

fitting apart without destroying / damaging the roof lining - I might be dim,

(like the standard bulb!) but it did not seem obvious!

Any suggestions / guidance / instructions / pictures would be most helpful!

Regards

Graham.

Press the unit to the left.

Then try to lift on the right side the unit and the "skycarpet" a little and pull the complet interior-light-unit out (to you  ). Disconnect the wiring.

Hi GrahamSt,

Did you replace with 501 W5W LED bulbs. Any particular one you choose?

Thanks,

Nevica

The footlights (#1 and #2) and the reardoorlight (#3) are from an old Audi A4. Dimming is with the "great" LED-spot.

All photos shot without extra light!

Nice job, if only I know how to do it myself :(

It looks complicated to do the wiring, cutting the plastic and connecting to the main circuit so they auto power on when the door is opened etc...

Hi La-La,

I have had a go at removing the light by pushing to the left and pulling up on the right. I find this difficult to do without damaging any of the ceiling carpet. It might be that I have a particularly tough light to remove. Any other tricks, ideas on removing the light fixture?

Try it oncemore, but this time in the other direction - maybe the LHD and the RightHandDrive are flipped in all parts :clown:

Hi,

I'm a new iq owner, and I've just found the same problem: I can hardly see if the light is on....

Please, do you think this one could fit?

Thanks! Regards

I'm sure you'll get a response from Tarquin shortly. He replaced my interior light with a more powerful version on an exchange basis (plus a small fee for the modified replacement).

Much, much brighter now ;)

Dash, thanks for your anser

The 'problem' is that I live in Spain; but if Tarquin is able to deliver the light to Spain, I'd love to order it from him.

If you can do (or know someone) who can do a little bit of soldering it's very easy to do a mod yourself.

I did my one using a cheap LED light from e-bay, some short cables and a little bit of glue. It's reversable too if you ever wanted to go back to the dim version.

I posted details at the bottom of this thread.

It's seriously bright too! B)

Hi There

This is the Modification I do for the Dome light..It is 12 times the rating of the original light and the Led is brought forward so the beam angle is much wider covering all the front cockpit and part of the rear,

And he has a rear area light that is easy to wire up and completely floods the rear compartment with bright, blue-white light.

Great Tarquin,

how can I proceed? Do you deliver them to Spain?

Thanks again. Regards

(a youtube link with the 'howto' will be appreciated)
