Hi,

I bought Avensis T Spirirt 2.0 (06 Reg) last year and is now coming up for service. Can someone pls share what they pay for service for a similar vehicle (17k miles).

Local Toyota dealer is quoting £729 for a 2 year contract with 2 normal service @ £169 and 1 big service @ £388 (including 2 MOT's). My previous Honda Civic was way cheaper... not sure if this is reasonable??

Cheers

Hi,

Cannot really comment on the prices other than who is going to be more expensive than Toyota ? ( does the price include all parts - brake pads / discs etc ? - I bet not. )

If the car / you have only done 17k in 4 years then why are your expecting to do so much mileage in the next 2 years that need 3 services including a major ??

May not be your thing, but now its outside warranty why not consider doing it yourself - plenty of help here - most stuff is quiet easy and you can always find a good local garage to do any hard unusual stuff.

don't agree to any service plan at a dealership. you'll pay top dollar.

Haggle on price.

I have same car as yours but on a 04 plate and 92k miles.

I expect to pay £30 for a service, £95 for a small service and approx £175 for a biggie and thats from my local Mr T. Of course there will be some variations in the service costs since some services require more work on the schedule than others. But I always ask for their best price and they are always willing to give me a big discount on the high labour rates.

If they tell you brakes need doing then take the car elsewhere. Toyota brakes are made by Bosch (or so the logo states on mine) and you can get them changed elsewhere much cheaper.

regarding doing the work myself, I don't want to get hands dirty! I enjoy winding up salesmen by sitting in the showroom cars and asking questions with no intentions of buying.

BTW great choice of car.
