Toyota Engine Warranty?

Hi,

I bought a 1.8 avensis tourer T4 almost 2 years ago. It came with a full service history. I think I've fallen foul of the oil burning fault and I've only noticed in recent months as she has been drinking the stuff. I now have a rattle coming from the bottom end of the engine and the guy who services the car says the engine is in te way out. Someone told me the engine could be covered by a 7.5 year warranty. Do any of u know if this is true? If so, would the fact that I used a non-Toyota mechanic to service my car make any warranty null and void? He is registered and stamps my book. I've had 2 services since I bought her, history before that is there, but not all Toyota garages.

Any info is greatly appreciated.
