Yeah. Sorry it is low oil pressure. DoH !

I used this stuff to top up :-

http://www.carlube.c...emi%20Synthetic

It is about 600 miles overdue for its service though.

Cheers

Tbh I dont know a lot about this oil. I would only use a full synth in my car, but thats just me. The problem that you have with any semi-synth oil is you just dont know how much synth is in it! It could be as low as 20% may be lower. Does this oil meet the C2/C3 spec for the D-CAT and fuel economy? How much did you pay for the oil? Did you know that you can get Mobil 1 ESP for around the £26 mark for a 5ltr tub?

I only used that oil as a stop gap till the service it is ACEA-B1 which it states in the manual is correct for the engine.

I was considering using C2 at the service due to the low ash level and I thought it might stop the EGR clogging up so quickly after just cleaning it.

Even reading this thread there seems to be some debate over which oil is best for the 2.2 DCAT engine, like certain manufactuers saying don't use this anymore use this instead. I wonder if anyone has had a definitive answer from Toyota on which oil is correct.

As it says in the manual use C2 ( or B1 if C2 cannot be obtained ) on the 1AD-FTV engine or you'll damage the cat, but on the 2AD-FHV (2.2 DCAT) engine it advises to use B1 and mentions nothing of C2, but C2 would most likely be better.

Oh well I will get the car serviced next week, maybe I am putting too much thought into this ;-))

Cheers

Andy

There are so many different views on the specs (Which is not helped a lot with the owners manuel sometimes) on here that its just a case of making your own mind up in the end. Some dont like synth oils and prefer to use a semi synth. But I like to cover the bases and use the best synth that covers all the specs as it will have a better "Flash point" and TBN number in the most part.

I think a "Low ash" content oil with help maintain the DPF which is a very expensive part to replace. So for a few more quid I feel better using a C2/C3 spec as well as running the car on Shell V-Power derv and using BG244 every 10k or so.

Now I'm putting to much thought into it! lol
