In astonishing scenes at the couples wedding blessing

POLICE dashed to the usually-peaceful village church to quell a vicious bust-up between Katie's security men, photographers and Alex's cagefighter friends.

WELL-WISHERS were knocked to the ground and left terrified during the battle.

PHOTOGRAPHERS were grabbed in headlocks, hurled to the ground and pinned against the church wall, with one suffering a gashed face.

The bride was hit herself and was so scared she dived back in her vehicle.

Outraged villager Elaine Benjamins,54, who had waited an hour to see Katie arrive, said: It was disgusting. I just wanted to wish her well but all I saw was people getting hit.

This is our local church. Clearly she cares more about the money than all these well-wishers who have waited in the heat to wave at her. It was frightening.

The trouble erupted as Katie the glamour model Jordan arrived at St Paul's Church near her home in Woldingham, Surrey, for her 15-minute blessing to Alex, 34, following a quickie wedding in Las Vegas in February.

The bride pulled up in a replica A-Team van nearly TWO hours after her guests had been bussed in from nearby Woldingham Golf Club.

Katie,32, was accidentally hit in the eye as security men tried to shield her entrance with a sheet and she fled back into the van.

A brawl then broke out between security and photographers, with several cameramen being pushed against the wall, on to the ground and in one case in a headlock.

Well-wisher Connor Hambleton, 13, who had only just been released from hospital with a broken arm and suspected meningitis, was knocked to the ground.

He said: It just all went mad. Everyone was getting pushed and shoved out the way. I couldn't move.

There were loads of small children around and I was stuck, but they were pushing me out the way and I fell and hit my head.

Id only wanted to see Katie. I was worried about my arm because it was in a sling.

Connor's mum Sarah said: I don't think it started with the photographers. It was very tense. I only came because I was a fan of Katie and my boy ends up on the floor.

Local villager Sarah Lockwood said: Ive never seen anything like it. It was disgusting. And it really needn't have been like that.

A spokesman for Knights Security said: Katie was spooked and wanted to leave and go round the block after she was hit in the eye, but the van was surrounded and that got everyone riled even more.

She was just scared. It took a while to calm the situation down.

A spokeswoman for Katie said: She is understandably shaken and upset by the actions of these people but is now looking to enjoy the rest of her day with her close friends and family.

The15-minute blessing finally took place but after the service Alex's cage- fighting friends started getting involved. A photographer who calls himself Andy 888 said: One threw a cigarette in my face and then spat on me. It was the most vile episode ever. Then he laughed and ran into the church. I intend to press charges.

Sergeant Dan Gutierrez of Surrey Police who arrived with seven officers said they had not been told there was a high-profile event at the church until the brawl started.

He said: All allegations made to officers will be fully investigated.

And there was more drama before the big day, The People can reveal.

Katie went back on an earlier promise to cross-dressing Alex to have a tattoo with her ex-husband Peter Andres name lasered off.

A friend said: When it became clear Alex would have to re-marry her without the tattoo being removed he flipped. But instead of being understanding Jordan threatened not to turn up to the wedding. Alex screamed back at her, Back luck love,were already married.

The couple made an uneasy truce by Friday night when they decided to spend the night together.

The location of the blessing filmed by ITV2 as part of a show called Kate and Alex: For Better Or Worse was kept secret until the last minute with Katie organising five decoy venues across Surrey and Sussex.

Guests were kept in the dark and ordered to rendezvous at the golf club.

Guests including model Danielle Lloyd, 26, her Portsmouth midfielder fiance Jamie O'Hara, 23, model Emma B, 31, and singer Michelle Heaton, 30,were fed drinks and snacks before being taken in a red double-deck busto church.

In a bizarre scene Jamie and Danielle refused to get on board, with the footie star overheard saying: I'm not getting on that bloody thing. The pair followed in their Range Rover. Others guests included models Lauren Pope, 26, Gary Cockrill, 42, and Phil Turner, 46.

Katie's daughter Princess, three, was a flower girl while son Junior, five, was an usher. Harvey, eight, her son with Dwight Yorke was there in a smart blue suit. Alex's brother Rupert was best man.

Bridesmaids included model Emma B, 31, and Polly Gould, 30, wife of Katie's horse riding pal Andrew.

But one of Katie's closest friends, beautician Julie Williams, 41, who has regularly appeared on her ITV2 reality show, stormed off in tears after a row with organisers.

The trouble is.... if not kept clean and suitably covered they can become badly infected giving rise to a nasty discharge and a need to visit the doctor
