Workshop Manual

Hi, Does anyone know where i can get a workshop manual for a 2004 1.4 d4d yaris or do they do one for the car and one for the engine. Also has anyone had any problems with black smoke from the exhaust with loss of power especially on the motorway. Changed the air filter and oil filter + oil and put injector cleaner in it. Is it new injector time?, there are no warning lights comming on, its just done 100k. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Not a chance in hell of getting one.

I did a bit of research and it turns out that (afaik)anything with the 1.4 d4d (1NDTV) engine is not covered. But feel free to correct me if i'm wrong!

Re: the black smoke. There is of course the possibility of a failed injector but it's doubtful.

When i got mine i flushed the engine for a few minutes with an engine flushing agent before changing the oil. Wynnes, i think. I did get a bit of smoke once after a few weeks of babying it so now i give it a bit of welly every few days to keep it cleared. Smokes very little now, if at all.

Good luck!

Cheers for that i can stop wasting my time trying to find a manual. I might try changing the fuel filter before i take it to a garage. Does yours ever lose power when giving it some stick.

I paid my money (about £5 iirc for an hour ) and downloaded ALL Toytota's files on the d4d engine for the Yaris in the time I had.

Smoking? Probably needs the EGR valve cleaning: an easy job. Search forum for it...

Cheers for that . What website did you use for the download, also is the EGR valve the one on the front right hand side of the engine as you look at it just infront of the injector rail and does it require a torque wrench to tighten it back up.(if so you dont know what it is do you) Thanks.

The EGR valve is on the RHS front of the engine and connects via a pipe to the inlet manifold on the left... You can disconnect at both ends and clean) Attached is Mark 1 diagram..

Never! It goes like the clappers!

Wish mine had as i went to overtake that car on the M18 mine died at the side of it then the other car kept slowing as mine did so i couldnt get back and the car behind had Police written on it(when it was visible through the smoke). That was a memorable few minutes.
