Fuel Gauge Help....

Hi

I'm new to this so I'm hoping that this post is in the correct place

I have an 08 Toyota yaris TR D4D and I am struggling to work out how much fuel i have left in my tank. The main dashboard says that I have half a tank left (well the bar is showing under the half way line) however my trip meter is showing that I only have 100 miles left until I need to fill up again.

When I refill the car at 30 miles to go (as I don't want to risk running out) it only costs about £36 to fill it. Once full the trip meter is reading 375 miles until I need to fill up again.

Should i take it in to Toyota for them to have a look at it or does this sound right??? :help:

You would get a better response posting this in the Yaris forum :)

Fuel gauges are notoriously inacurate... which these days with all the computer power available in the car to interpret the fuel gauge senders reading correctly is inexcusable IMO.

I have a new Auris and can drive for 160 miles before the 8 bar gauge (is it 8?) moves off full. Even after 300 miles and it's still half full, then the last "half" drops far more quickly.

I would be almost certain yours is not faulty... just the way it is.
