Is it possible to burn a Playlist from Windows Media onto an Audio CD and play it in an Aygo or does the Aygo CD Player not support this?

My Aygo + is a 2005 Model.

It should tell you in the cars user manual what media is playable and what file types are supported for the audio unit fitted. I suspect CD only but look and be sure.

I haven't had any trouble playing burned CD's in my CD-player, but you have to burn it as a audio CD. A CD with MP3-files won't work. Unless you upgrade your headunit to something more sophisticated.

I can't locate my manual at the moment to check but I have created a play list in Windows Media and the file type is WMA but it won't play in the Aygo.

It will play in our other car which is a July 2007 Prius T Spirit.

I have used a Verbatim CD-RW 1-4X 700 MB 80 min CD

The only way to play WMA/MP3-files in the Aygo is to connect your MP3-player to the aux-connection. You have to make a audio CD, burning tracks onto the the disc in order to play them, like the ones you buy at a record shop. With a 80 min CD, you should be able to squeeze in about 20 tracks :)

It won't play because the Aygo is a CD only player. WMA/MP3 etc files need a unit that recognises these formats.

You might also find that burning a CD-RW disc as an ordinary "audio disc" isn't recognised by all CD players as these are less reflective than CDR's and some units can not read them. That's another problem altogether though.

When you list your playlist then go to the burn options and make sure that burn as an audio CD is selected then it will play just fine. thumbsup.gif

So you're obviously buring them as CD-Audio, not as a Data-CD containing the sound files.

An Audio-CD usually can hold about 20 songs, while an MP3-disc can hold about 100.

Unfotunately the latter will NOT work in the OEM radio...

Thank you all for your input.

I am not very conversant with the different types of format but the position seems to be that although I can create and play an audio CD of my Windows Media Play list in the Ago the amount I can import onto the disc in Audio CD format is approximately 2 albums ( That is what happened when I tried to import a WM Play list in Audio CD ) whereas when I create a "data" CD from my WM play list by data I can get approximately 14 albums per disc ( that is what I got on one disc ) but that the "data" CD will not play in an Aygo.

That's it :)

Audio is quite a big selling point and later cars (of all makes) have started to add this WMA/MP3 playback facility, and some now also have a USB slot hidden away so you can put all your music on such a memory device and just plug it in and have all your music available... no discs. Car CD players have become more like "dedicated computers" to enable this (as a lot of different processes and processing power is needed).

Thanks Mooly.

I was brought up with Gramophones and Vynil Records in the 1950's and it is a steep learning curve getting to grips with the ever changing technology.
