Oil Problem On Vvti Engines

Hello, the reported excessive oil consumption use on vvti engines, is this on all capacities or just the 1.6 and 1.8ltr units? Thinking of buying a 2.0ltr and unsure if this is affected after reading through some of the topics. Thanks

I know that the 1.6 suffers particularly badly. It's a problem with slightly undersized piston rings. They aren't at any risk of failing or anything its just a little more oil gets burned.

My 2.0Ltr uses requires no topping up between services.

My 2002 1.8 vvti uses absolutely no oil between changes & stays very clean, too, an indication of no blow by on pistons & rings. It has only done 35000mls but I am very pleased with it.

I think the oil problems were only on the ZZ engines, being the 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8. The 2.0 is think is a 1AZ engine, which didn't suffer from the problems.
