Hi,

Ive purchased an alarm system for my Auris (1.6 MMT T3), its a genuine toyota alarm system VSS1 (RHD). Ive got the tech docs from toyota-tech.eu. Now, ive installed everything apart from the Z8 and Z9 pins which are supposed to plug into the wiring panel under the glove compartment. For the love of pete,I cant figure out where this is suppose to plug in!

The tech doc isnt very clear. Any one has any ideas?

Apart from stating the obvious, that the manual for VSS says that expert fitment is required, I would imagine you need to concentrate on page 48 of the manual and try to locate the upper left connector on the backside of the circuit you posted the photo of. You should proceed to pull it out, connect the wires as pictured in the manual and that should be it. There is a setting-up procedure to follow once you're done with the wiring. Good luck with this one. :ffs:

Thanks for the tip! Im no expert but like modding cars, the only way you get better is experience and doing it your self. Anyway, tech-docs are supposed to be a fallback guide.

PG 48 of the manual is more or less useless, the diagram doesnt correspond to the actual wiring hub picture. Manual picture (z90.jpg)post-74840-1279144364_thumb.jpg an heres the actual wiringpost-74840-127914455983_thumb.jpg.

What are the dashed boxes pointing to? Im still lost!

I think the dashed boxes show you where the connector is, but on the backside.

For me your photo lines up with the image from techdoc. So, the diagram does correspond to the actual wiring hub...

As you can see (marked with red circles) there are wires running behind this circuit board. I think the connector you are looking for is on the backside.

If I am reading the techdoc image right, it's coming behind the circuit from the lower side. You shoud check, if you can get to the rear of this board. I think the < | > arrows suggest that you have to flip the board over...

That's how I'm reading it. :bookworm:

You were right!

There is another cable on the reverse of the panel. Its not the easiest thing to get to but its there. You have to remove the 3 bolts holding up the panel, then reach up under feeling your way through to remove the cable. The cable isnt very long so wiring it up is kinda tricky.

Going to attemt to finish off the installation over the weekend.

Thanks for your help!
