Anyone Fitted Hid Effect Bulbs In Their Aygo

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone has fitted hid look alike bulbs to their aygo if so is their anything to watch out for as I have got the liking of the hid look alike bulbs and little concerned on life of fuses if using these bulbs

If the powerrating is the same (12V @ 55/60W) you shouldn't worry about the fuses.

Running heavier lights (like 100W) will fry your wiring and may caus parts

of your headlight to warp due to the higher temperatures these run at.

I've just installed some Phillips 4000K Blue Vision head and side lights, not sure how blue they look coming the other way but certainly light the road a lot better than standard bulbs.

I use the Philips Diamond Vision H4 5000K Xenon/HID effect bulbs and PowerBulbs is offering free matching side lights at present.

Raistlin Just be careful as these particular bulbs aren't road legal in the European Union so you're looking at a fixed penalty or worse if you get stopped. They will also fail an MOT!

If these Philips Diamond Visions have an E-approval they probably ARE Road Legal.

When they're not, this should be noted on the packaging...

As usual you're absolutely correct Jan, it's also clearly displayed on the PowerBulbs web page as well that these are NOT road legal

AUTO EXPRESS REVIEW

"The Dutch manufacturer’s dominance of the H market is complete as its styling bulb takes another deserved victory in the blue section of our test.

Although there was a fair amount of variation between our two sample bulbs, both left the opposition trailing by a significant margin, and they performed particularly strongly at the crucial 75-metre point."

Our Review

An excellent product if you're looking for a whiter light but also with that blue styling to oncoming traffic.

It DOES say so quite obviously... But it IS a Philips-product and they usually don't make "tuner-junk"?

Maybe these lights are meant for another market outside the EU where they are legal?

I'd stay away from Philips Lghts anyways: I've had them on my first car and they were on

my DeLorean and they used to burn out within a couple of months. Even on the DeLorean,

which I only used about every fortnight for a couple of hundred miles in summer...

Switched over to the cheapest Bosch lights I could find and they lasted me for over two years!

On my Aygo I've had TRUE HID lights for half a year or so, but due to the design of the (cheap)

set I got flashed quite a lot, so I removed them and put in a couple of "White Hammers".

Very Bright, but low lifespan too, so I'm back again with Bosch...

I am now debating if I shud use xenon white led side lights or cool blue led side lights in my car to go with my HID effect bulbs coming in at 7200k colour temperature, does anyone has a idea what pair I should go with, all answers will be greatly taken in

I have ring xenon Max +100% H4 bulbs which give far better light, ARE fully road legal and do not cost much at all vs. a standard H4 bulb!

I also have front indicator bulbs that are 'blue' look when off but flash orange when light up - again looks great on a Blue and indeed any car rather than the 'fried egg' look of the original orange coloured ones!
