Fitting A Double Din Radio?

I'm new to the forum and have a quick question about replacing the head unit on my 2007 double cab hilux pickup. Its currently got a standard factory fitted T3800. Can I replace this with a double din unit or do I need to have a single DIN unit with a spacer/cubby hole underneath?

It looks like the right size for a double DIN unit to me but the audio shop that is fitting it says that their reference has it down as a DIN and 1/2 hole.
