Ive have noticed that my rev limit is low during the first 5 minutes is this normal ? what is the reason for it? and is there any way to know when the engine is ready to go?

Hadn't noticed this, but if Toyota has implimented a variable rev-limit, it makes sense.

Basically, when your engine's cold, the oil doesn't flow round the engine as well as it should. Using high engine speeds while its cold causes excessive wear.

Even if there isn't a variable rev-limit, its a good idea to avoid high engine speeds until your engine's properly warmed up.

Cheers,

Grum.

The engine ECU is programed not to let you rev the engine hard until the engine up to full operating temp that why it seem to operate at different rev:D

i have noticed the car revs low wen its cold but my corolla gti revs to 8300rpm wen its running rigth wich i find unusally cuz ive driven other cars like min and its no were near the same and mine aint modified at all? i fiqured out that it depend on how you look after your car! if you occasionally reving high you will start to loose power eventually! so only give your car the stick wen needed to then you'll see the differnce

Dude, that is the most pants ive ever heard someone talk! Not very good for a first post is it! :P

First off 'RedRocket' is talking about the Corolla T Sport with the VVTL-i engine, which revs to about 8500rpm once warm, but when cold it only revs to 6700rpm-ish! Due to the oil needs to get to a certian temp before it allows the engine to go into the 'Lift' otherwise it could fail and seize a valve bucket in its guide etc!

Your car i take it is a non-TVIS AE92 Corolla GTi? If so they're rev limit is around the 8000rpm area and will rev to it when hot or cold, but not advised when cold, as it put extra strain and premature wear on the engine components!

And the statement about only giving your car stick once in a while will give you more performance is !Removed!! Im not even going to go bother going into detail!
