Toyota Announces Safety Pack For Prius

It is to do with the weight of the 15" versus the 17" wheels and the impact on emissions. I've been looking around for 17" wheels with the weight of the 15" wheels and there are a few especially the Jap racing wheels but my wife didn't like the look of it.

Got the Prius but story not over yet, still have some final things to get sorted but sloooooowly getting in the right directions. I'm doing a good clean tomorrow and get those speaker dimensions for you and snaps of the sub etc.

Safety Pack is BRILLIANT . Cruise Control works like a dream and will slow Toyota to 22mph then bleeps and disengages.

Works from 30mph upwards

Leather seats with HEATING and leather trim on the doors.

Need a boot liner as I ordered the Metalic White and it has a light grey interior carpet.

Fuel consumption over Christmas lots of Motorway driving was a creditable 62.5 mpg

Round town journey to work and back 54.3 mpg

Ordered at beginning of September 2010 arrived December 21st so beat the VAT increase.

Am I happy with it :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yes::yes::yes:

Salesman assured me that all leatherwork was carried out in the UK even on a FACTORY ORDER until I pointed out that they

would not have had time to fit it. It arrived in Bristol and was on a transporter the following day. Salesman then said that they

had a team of leather fitters working three shifts ripping seats out and replacing with leather.:eek:

Where do they find them ........

Does the saftey pack mean you get heatred seats ive not seen this listed anywhere and when i asked my dealer they said couldnt get them

Hi JP ...

I've always had a sunroof so that was my must-have ... hoping that I can pick up a set of 17" wheels at a later date if necessary ... AFAIK the reason 15" are fitted is that it won't meet emissions without - but I don't quite understand why ?

Jon

I was under the - perhaps mistaken - impression that the solar roof was a solar panel that powered the internal fan to keep the vehicle cool in summer - not an actual opening moon/sun roof??

I'd be keen to know the answer on heated seats. Not a dealbreaker for me but would like them.

The info on leather being factory-fit for safety pack has definitely inclined me towards ordering it.

The back half of the roof is the solar panel - the front half is a glass sunroof with tilt :-)

Will post pics when it gets here - don't think there's many of them around !!

Yes the front half is a glass sunroof with tilt and slide. Press the button once and the sunroof tilts and again and it slides right open.

My T Spirit with safety pack delivered in January has heated front seats, this makes the leather bearable on cold mornings.

The adaptive cruise control seems to work really well and it takes a lot of the stress out of motorway driving, I would recommend it.

With the safety pack option on the Prius I am now thinking that when placed alongside the Avensis saloon it has become a real contender. This extra comfort is what I already have in my car

My wife's 2010 T-Spirit is a superb car sharing the Avensis floorpan and the 1.8 engine and with the Battery option it makes is more versatile and cheaper to run. Plus of course the fact that it is a hatchback which the Avensis is not :ffs:

Now when the time comes for me to change from my current car will I look at the Prius  .... do you know what  .... I think I will :)

I'm considering these a nice bonus. I wasn't expecting them when I placed my order.

I love heated seats.

Why on earth don't Toyota make the heated seats issue clearer? I asked about heated seats too with the safety pack when ordering my car and was told it was not an option that was available in any form on uk models. Its a bit silly when the dealers don't know what is and isn't available on the cars they are selling!

Safety pack is excellent but when I was ordering our new Gen3 the dealer quoted August as delivery date. I eventually ordered a T Spirit without safety pack. Should be here by April fools day!!!!!!

Toyota are telling my fleet department 16 weeks for standard spec T Spirit models and 18 weeks for safety pack.
