Hi chaps new to this web site but in desperate need of advice . I own a celica gt4 st205 which is a L reg import and had for 5 years with no problems but recentally noticed when driving my turbo boost guage only goes to 0 and only driving on the standard 2 litre engine.checked all the hoses o.k with no splits , kinks or tears replaced the actuator again no joy removed the inlet pipe off the turbo and the inlet turbine on the turbo is spinning on idle so turbo not seized. My head is throbbing with this problem so please any advice would be appreciated.Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

could be that the blades have gone on the exhaust side, as its an import it has the ceramic wheel and shaft.

remove the O2 sensor and use a torch to look inside tward the exhaust turbine see if there are any blades missing.

report back and we'll go from there.

by the way ive moved this to the celica section, it will get a better response there

Hi guys thank you for the advice removed the oxygen sensor and had a good look around but to be honest could not see too much , will have to get one of them bendy torches on like a wire and have a second glance.Did notice a slight score line in the exhaust soot by the blades though so probably thrown a blade or two. Will keep looking and keep you posted.

  • 3 weeks later...

It wouldn't surprise menif the shaft had snapped, this happened to mine. All I could see wrong was a broken fin until I spun both sides of the turbo in opposite directions with success
