Service Issue

Hi

I have just taken delivery of a 2003 Rav 4 VX petrol from the UK

I do not have a hand book at this time and there is an orange light with an engine logo illuminated on the dash board

The car is booked in for service in two weeks

What does the light mean?

Is it ok to drive in the interim?

Welcome to the forum - been to malta 3 or 4 times and Gozo twice - really nice place and a good deal better weather!!

Generally, the light means there is a fault or issue with the engine system which needs to be checked. It might be a little or it might be a sensor indicating a fault which could lead to something more. On this version, there is a connection available to read the fault codes which would highlight the fault...and theres a few posts that describe the tool. Or take it to an engine tuner/garage to get them to read the code.

Funnily enough on my racing rav, we also have the engine light on - but its the reverse.....if it goes off then I have big problems!!

The normal state is for the light to be off after the engine starts.
