all a bit much info for me ... have search various topic on internet and have found this a reacurring problem with this engine and good and bad result with toyota

the vehicle has full service history with toyota dealer

afer speaking to toyota uk i am waiting further instructions

any other help / thought in taking on toyota in this matter would be appreciated ....

Sorry to hear about another headgasket failure as you have probably read i am a victim too, my vehicle has been off the road for four months trying to get toyota to admit to this well documented failure. My advice is to write directly to Mr Tanaguchi the uk chairman as i think that customer relations have had instructions to minimize the damage caused by this fault ie cost, I told I would have to pay labour and consumables before they would give parts to repair the car and that the offer would only be effective for 14 days (bit of blackmail going on there) I refused and the car was returned to me in pieces and I was charged £1010.00 for the pleasure. Only after writing to the chairman did they accept full cost for repairs it has now been at the dealership since last tuesday for repair but stil has caused me to lose approx £12.000 in lost business. Why cant Toyota accept that this is a major design fault and accept responsibility and get these engines modified without charges to the customer I am sure that it would go a long way to rebuild the reputation for reliability and customer satisfaction that it once had.

Your dealer needs to put an out of warranty request in to Toyota, if it has full service history and meets certain criteria, then Toyota usually pay, it is done on a case by case basis and you need to go down this route first. If you go straight to customer relations then all that will happen is they refer it back to the dealer and wastes you some time

hi forum member

thanks for the replys .

i have had a out of warranty request put in to toyota on tue this week

only snag i have is toyota want me to foot the bill to investigate the fault

then if certain criteia is met then a full warranty will be provided ....toyota will give nothing in writing

to this effect ..... very worried that i will be left high and dry with them slipping out of this on a technicallity

.... will keep u informed

Investigation work has to be paid for, the car is not in warranty, if TGB cover the costs of repair you will get it back, if they don't make a consideration then you are out of pocket. The car is out of warranty, they cant get out on a technicality, there arnt any to get out of!
