do any of you guys know if the privacy glass in my sr is laminated ?

according to some of the spec lists on-line for used models, the glass is described as laminated.

I had a 1600 SR (lovely car)my rear wiperblade was worn and it scratched the laminate off (only a tiny bit, no more than a scratch) so I reckon it probably is.

The glass will be laminated, as far as I am aware the tint is just a film.

if by laminate you mean the same as the windscreen (2 layers of glass with a bonding adhesive sandwiched between them, then NO.

(Think when thiefs smash the side window, it breaks into thousands of pieces...)

Laminate controls this shatter and retains the integrity of the windscreen.

What the privacy tinted windows are is a standard glass, with a tinted film, which sort of acts like a proper laminate and the film and adhesive, holds the standard window glass and will retain SOME integrity if someone tries to smash it, depending on the quality of the tinted film.

Laminate glass is very expensive for use in door windows...
