Threat to oyster stocks after herpes outbreak

By Jennifer Cockerell in London

Saturday July 24 2010

AN outbreak of the herpes virus in oysters could be potentially "devastating" for stocks of the shellfish, experts warned yesterday.

Samples taken from the Pacific oyster species harvested off Kent, have tested positive for OsHV-1 virus (Oyster Herpesvirus type 1), a spokeswoman for the UK Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) said.

It is the first time the virus has been detected in the UK. The movement of oysters has now been banned in the area in a bid to contain the outbreak.

Cefas said the virus, which has no cure, had caused huge numbers of oyster deaths in Ireland, France and Jersey but there were no implications for human health.

I thought you'd understand :crybaby: Here, I'll let Chambers explain & please note "Very Obvious" at the end

Writ2 verb, archaic past tense, past participle of write. writ large 1 written in large letters. 2 on a large scale; "very obvious."

I'm fluent in Modern & Archaic English :lol:

Nope ! I COULD have added "T.E.N." but I knew I was correct & why be the same as everyone else, when I can confuse & obfuscate lesser Mortals :lol2:

I am surprised at an Immortal :hokus-pokus: Arch Mage not being aware of past usage of THEIR language :sneaky2:
