hi all,

this may sound silly but i was wondering if the speedo language can be changed from jap to english for a Japanese import?

i have a auris 180G year 2007 imported from Japan. speedo where fuel consumption details and date and all that are all in japanese and i went through the setup but it does not allow me to change the language at all. i was wondering if anyone here that may know of anyway to change it easily if possible?

There is a language option listed in the manual for the current UK version... the picture there shows English/French/Italian and perhaps more if you scroll the list. Accesed by pressing and holding the display button and selecting language... is that what you tried ?

If the Japanese display doesn't have this option then it might be worth asking a dealer. It's to costly to produce unique displays etc... it's usually all altered via software which "costs nothing" at the time of design.

If it's in Japanese perhaps you are not recognising the "language" option on the display ;)

I guess asking a dealer is the only sure option... are they friendly if they know it's imported.

I still think it will be alterable because as mentioned, it just costs too much to make country specific options these days when a quick flash of the memory is all that's needed instead.

It might very well be software related but the software update wont be available in another market area. In other words, we only have information for European/UK cars, NOT Japanese spec cars so it is unlikely to be able to get it changed

Kingo
