Grinding Noise (Between 10 Kph-80Kph)

Recommended Posts

HI,

I have an 08 Corolla Verso. It makes a grinding or rubbing noise when driven between 10-80KPH (althought I think engine noise drowns it out above 80)

Dont think it is an engine problem as there is no noise from the engine while stationary and the engine is revved.

Nor is it the clutch as there is no noise when I clutch/declutch

Nor is it brakes...

Noise dies away below 10KPH

Any ideas???

Yours in puzzlement...

CV joint? Look for a lot of nasty sticky grease around the inside of the wheel.

CV - joint?

Possibly but no knocking/grinding on cornering....

Thanks,

The rubber Boot covering your steering rack joints and CV joints could be cracked and caught in the mechanisms, or some suspension bushes are worn and need replacing. Either way, you need to get that car in the air and check it for yourself, we can only tell you so much from what you say.

I know it's been a while since your last response to this post, just wanted to know if you got problem sorted, I've got 07 verso d4d, and it's making a grinding noise which is very prominet in lower gears for about 5 mins then seems to linger in the background after 5 mins of driving, don't think it's air con unit because noise is only heard when in motion. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think i'm the only one posting on this thread, but anyway, I'm quite sure now after having independent mechanic look at my verso that problem lies with dodgy dual mass flywheel! :euro:
