Fuel... 91/95/98?

Officially our engine was designed to run 91 (please correct me if I am wrong)

However did anyone try to use higher octane level fuel such as 95 and 98?

Did you notice any difference, especially on fuel efficiency when you use higher octane fuel on our IQ?

95 that is.

98 has no effect whatsoever.

Here in Portugal the iQ runs with 95. But here we only have 95, 98 or 100 octane gas.

I use 95 and get better fuel economy than when i used to use v power / 99

I dont think anyone will notice a difference until they reset the cars cpu, because if youve run it on a low ron switching will take a long time for the car to change to make use of the higher ron.

The interesting thing is as this a Jap car then it might be made to work a higher ron initially

My last two Lexus had a certain fuse you could remove to speed up the process of the ECU learning the fuel.

We tried about 20 fuel-ups with 98 instead of 95 (95 is standard in sweden), and actually got better fuel economy from that (without any resetting and such), i.e. paying less money for the same distance travelled, even though 98 is 30 öre (about 3 cents) more expensive per litre.

So overall did 98 give you a cheaper bill on fuel?
