hi you all we have hear my wifes 1999 toyota avensis 1.8 gs been in the family 10 years it`s just been for the mot and failed on emisions ( co is o.62 should be no more that 0.30 )all that has been done to the car is a repacement exhast do you think it`s the cat as there are no codes from the the obd the exhast was from a local garage not toyota

PS this car has been the best car the family have had (it was 13 mounths old when purchased, toyota changed the front disks and calipers,new clutch assembly, new steering rack,and serviced every 12 mounths) parts replaced by me lately =front disks and pads, rear brake shose, Battery, and now my daughter runs the car miles 97K

Firstly youve posted this in the Auris section and not the Avensis...lol

My dad had an Avensis and his too failed the mot on the emissions.

He had someone test it for him and the cat was at fault but also something to do with the engine. I think it was summat do to with engine using too much oil..

Its been a couple of years now since this but I cant 100% remember what indeed the problem was...
