Boot Sill Protector?

Hi everyone. Am seeking info. On my former car, a Golf, I had a clear plastic strip fitted over the edge of the boot to stop scratches to the paint by dog jumping in and out. It was added at a VW dealer and I think they used ultra violet light to fix it. Cost about £30. Is there something similar for the Rav4? Also, does anyone use still those plastic strips to stop door edge scratching on walls, parked cars etc? They were ugly but useful so is there a modern version?

Toyota do a bumper protector or bumper film, depends on year of RAV as to what type you can get for your car, if you want a price PM me with your reg number and I will price one up.

One Idea - What I did was made some door strips out of 'helicopter tape' or 'bike tape' (It's not cheap, but is very good) and folded them around the door edge. Being clear tape, it is not really noticable. I think Davrav(?) also has some of the pukka paint protection film (the name of which escapes me) applied to his RAV. Maybe a piece of that? I expect the two types are very similar.

(biketart was also on eBay, but be careful, some of the cheaper tape from others is nowhere near as flexible and tough. I've used stuff from biketart via eBay and found it OK. That's not saying you might find the same quality cheaper elsewhere).

Yup, quite correct SHCM, I have all the front end [bonnet, bumper, lights mirror covers] as well as the rear bumper top and the door edges exactly as you describe. Not cheap but it stops all the gravel chips I would otherwise have because of the proliferation of gravel pits/trucks round here. The film I have is called VentureShield [just Google it] and it is incredibly tough. Apparently developed to protect Heli rotors from being degraded when flying in the desert.

Hi Tametiger,

seems like we are of like mind.I have just purchased a Bumper Protector & wind deflector, for the sunroof, from www.climairuk.co.uk.Worth checking out,for sure. It`s not the clear plastic one, black rubber, but goes with the Yew Green no problem.
