Avensis Verso D4D Rattle

I hope I've eneted the correct forum, apology if I've made a newbie error.

I have a 54 registration 2.0 D4D Avensis Verso, 120K, owned from new and serviced by main agent. It recently developeed a large flat spot / lack of power betwen 3000 & 3500 rpm. I took it in for its scheduled service that included a cambelt replacement. When I collecteed my vehicle, I noticed that there was a distinct rattle, just like a tappet rattle, which wasn't there before. This quietens down after the engine warms up, but doesn't go away entirely. The flat spot remains. I complained and the garage say it is a faulty injector which is the cause of the rattle and power loss, and fixing it will be ~ £1500. Before I embark on this, has anyone else had similar expriences with this type of fault, and was it an injector problem? I'd like to avoid paying a lot of money for the problem to remain.
