Adding Motorsport Chip To A New 3.0 Hilux

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Im considering upgrading my new 3.0 invincible to the chip that the limited edition hilux invincible 200 has in it.This should take it from 171 BHP,to about 194 apparently.

I wont bother though if its a silly price.

Will the differnce be noticeable? And more importantly, will it mean i need brake upgrades etc? Does it alter your insurance?

Many thanks...

Check your warranty to see if it covers the upgrade and see how much your insurance wants extra for coverage.

Lindop Toyota sell the genuine Toyota chip at reasonable cost (check if warranty is still intact) and i believe it's the same as the Steinbauer which is the other best of the bunch choice, circa 4 hundred quid if i recall correctly.

Don't be tempted by cheaper alternatives with great write ups on their own websites, some of the alternatives repetitively put the truck into limp mode.

NFU wanted a minimum of 30% loading of the premium and they wouldn't quote before they saw the power figures, i decided not to go ahead.

As for brakes the truck needs a brake upgrade anyway, mine's a lot better since i chucked some Mintex pads on the front, it stops now without my heart missing several beats.
