Smokey Again

Damn And Blast

the Flaming car (2.2 diesel Avensis) is smoking again every time i try to accelerate

or change up

now i know the EGR valve is clear Ive had it off 2 times in the last 2 days

Ive got a new air filter ,fuel filter and for good measure the motors had a new oil filter and semi synthetic oil

its got to be unburnt fuel or lack of air mixture so is there a sensor problem ,turbo or injectors at fault

I'm about to try more FORTE DIESEL CLEANER and hope it un blocks ,ungums something....although

the thing is the car runs superbly as fast as something off a shovel

the daft thing is when just idling on tick over there's no smoke and only a little smoke if i up the revs

but under driving conditions every time i accelerate or change up a plume of black smoke

anyone any ideas what the problem may be

the car has done 103685 miles

No idea what he problem is but have you cleaned the MAF sensor? Located in the air intake pipe just down stream of the airfilter. Its the square ish thing held in with 2 cross head screws. I did mine last time I did the egr valve as I had the carb cleaner handy.

OK the latest from Mr T

the car is absolutely spot on........ MrT is baffled ...no egr problems ....no injector problems....MAF ok ....everything is OK

inc the latest software for the ECU

and more to the point no charge from MrT for the diagnostic checks (johnson toyota liverpool :thumbsup::thumbsup: )

as for the smoke ....its a mystery....maybe cheap fuel ....although its supposed to be the latest fuel from Shell

Do you do a lot of town driving?

If so, it could just be down to a build up of soot in the exhaust system. Get out on a nice quiet road and give it a good blast out in a lower gear (2nd maybe) and high revs. The high flow of gas through the exhaust should dislodge most of the loose soot.
