My new insurance with First Direct started yesterday. I hope I never need to claim.

What I cannot get my head round is why car insurance companies do not tell the whole truth. It seems once you have paid your money you are treated like an idiot. If you have a query you ring up and are kept holding on listening to music. At one time recently I was waiting 30 mins. for a reply on an expensive call number. I was also passed from operator to operator all had different stories on the matter. When you ring to get a new policy you can use an 0800 number after that it is an expensive number for your claims etc.

On aside some call centres in India are OK. I have had decent service from Virgin Media. I do agree that most are not very good. When I was with "More Than" I found their India call centre was not so good.

I'm with APlan brokers. 4 yrs no claims and £550 ish. Due for renewal end of the month. My ins is constantly at the £550 ish mark. Hopefully this yr it will lower with my 5 yrs no claims....

Whats good with APlan is they have high street shops I can pop in or phone.

Gotta sort out my MOT before hand. Hopefully Kwik Fit is still doing their £40 MOT deal.

I have started to use my local brokers. They are not in India or on a premium phone number and I can understand them perfectly. They are also able to match the prices I can get online.

RAC charged us £30 for the benefit of us staying with them to amend the policy for a new car. And then another £25 because we now have a Prius which they deem more at risk than our previous much more expensive 3.5L Petrol SUV....I had a go at my wive for agreeing with them, she then called them back to cancel and they pointed out in the insurance policy that we can't get a refund without an administration fee. So for the 6 months left on the insurance we would have only received back £15...!Removed! thieves the RAC is, I swallowed my pride and stayed with them as we have about £200 value still in there for the next few months but I definitely not go back there...And yes this was an English call centre.

Sad to hear this, sounds like a rip-off again.

I can only repeat that I've found LV very reasonable and competent to deal with.

You may safe yourself some money and be with a reliable company.

I let the bank look after my money and let my car insurer look after my car insurance. I don't mix the two.
