Hi guys,

Just wondering how long people have been getting out of their discs/pads. I know the pads might tend to wear a bit quicker, mine have been quite firm up to now and I have done over 19k and are only just starting to feel a bit soft.

Any idea on what the cost is to replace the pads?

Cheers.

hi, I'm at 25k miles and still original discs and pads though service due soon so we'll see what the news is at that point!.....

It appears that people's experience tend to vary. I thought our Aygo was being unduly heavy on pads/discs - but I got my Dealer to measure them and it appears they are wearing OK and much better than I thought.

Get them measured and then compare the readings to what Toyota specs. are - that'll give you a clear idea as to how they are wearing.

My front discs and pads were renewed after 14 months and 2300 miles.

The job was covered by the 18 month disc warranty and cost me nothing.

The symptom was the sound of "metal on metal" when braking but there

was plenty of life still in the pads.

I asked the Mechanic to show me the old discs and they were quite badly

pitted and groved. I would say that they were made from sub-standard metal.

Yep they are pants.

Replace both discs and pads with EBC, the pads the green version and you will not look back. No lipping, no extreme wear and you actually get a lot more bite from touching the pedal, the normal ones are too spongy on first application.
