Hi guys and gals.. her we go again.

Trust me I have been searching for this and can't find it.

I have a 1997 ® Avensis Gls 67k 2 owners from new (its a belter!!)

but it has a radio/tape unit.. Sony I think.

I'm trying to take it out to see the connections for the cd player funciion. I would like to wire other things into it. but need to get the damm thing out, but it seems to be embedded/sunken into the surrounding moulding... any ideas.

cheers, ta's and thankeys very much

To remove the radio/CD/tape player surround first slide out the ash tray located below the unit. Next insert four fingers in the gap below the unit surround and exert a gentle, even and gradual pull to disengage the surround attachers from the bottom up. Be very careful not to snatch the surround out of its holding clips or you will stand a good chance of snapping the surround, in 1999 a new one was quoted at £200.00!

With the surround removed four screws will be visible, two each side of the unit. with them safely out (not down the back of the dashboard) the whole cube of the unit may be lifted forward, revealing the rear connections. For many years I had a Sony ten disc changer connected.

Good Luck, Avensis1999 (awaiting September delivery of my Avensis 2010)

I have the same sony double din unit, with the ten disc changer, and a connects2 usb adaptor. This means I have multi sources to listen to music. I put mp3 on memory sticks, and have used a memory card reader to play mp3's from SD cards.

I currently use 4 - 8 gb memory sticks, which hold lots of music.

The Connects2 adaptor comes with the cable that plugs into CD changer socket and the CD changer plugs into the Connects2 adaptor. Very simple.

Please note that there is no title name display, due to the age of the unit, but I am not bothered.

I was going to buy a minidisc changer but it is very expensive and now out of date - who uses minidisc?

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Good luck.
