My New Corolla

Hi all! First...what a great site i've found! and I'm glad I've registered!

Earlier this month I bought my new Corolla CE and I've been getting mixed messages about how to break the car in. Some say to vary your speed and not to brake hard, for the first 500km or first 3000km?? or I have even heard not to go over 80km/hr for the first couple thousand kilometers.

I have driven on the highway, unavoidable where I live and something happened yesterday which freaked me out a little. It only happened once but when I was accelerating, i got up to 60km/hr and my rpm flew up to 3000 and as I tried to press the gas to speed up further, I didn't get a response. I don't know if this is because this is a V4 engine and my old car was a V6 (so i expect a better response) or what. Any comments would be helpful. I checked all my fluids and they were all topped up so I'm just a little confused. It hasn't happened since. Any ideas? Thanks. :D

Mate, for starters, the engine in your car wouldnt be a V4, and i wouldnt worry too much, you gotta learn the car and how it drives before you can judge whether there is a problem. As for driving it in? it's a toyota so i wouldnt worry too much, just dont go really fast like 100mph.
