Prius To Be Kept " Exclusive"

Or does that translate to " We sell all our quota so we'll keep prices high"?

I notice in America the Prius range has 5 versions starting with a bargain basement base model. I always thought it funny we start with a t3 then have a t4. What happened to t1 and t2?

Can't say I blame Toyota as they're onto a winner and they did take the gamble of years of investment into hybrids.

Mmmmm, I think I quite like the idea of driving an 'exclusive' car, and frankly with a couple of minor changes I'm happy with the gen2, although I will go to the gen3 when mine is 3 years old....

The marketing probably worked on us....I considered the Auris for 5 seconds but since it is pretty much a normal mundane experience and it doesn't look like a 'prius' it doesn't do anything special....May as well get a Golf or A4 ;-) I like the 'special' interior/exterior etc...

The Prius can be used as the testbed for any new ecotech and accessories to see how they perform before being introduced (or not) into other models.

I can see fuel cells replacing the engine in the next few years.

Maybe some new Battery tech eventually.

Partof this is really saying that they need more new tech before they can make step changes to the Prius, so they might as well spread hybrid costs across the whole range and let it become standard accepted technology.

I think I'd go for the gen3 t-spirit as is, but I'd appreciate the mirrors being electrically folding...

Aren't the lowest American spec models only available to the fleet market? So unless you are buying a fleet of taxis...

or alternatively, leave the engine in, add LPG and add a fuel cell to charge the Battery....... where did all the boot space go ??

LOL, then Toyota would have to allow us to have a tow hitch.
